Champ de Mars Pavilion
2016
Wandering and meandering, the scenario encouraging interaction in a casual way is the theme of this project. Located in the city of Paris, a city of “culture meandering”, the project stands as a temporary structure, while reminding people of the eternal topic —Peace. The two-floor structure is like a landscape growing from the earth, not to overact in front of the Eiffel Tower. It consists of a series of ramps and paths, a major step could serve as a seating space when a concert is taking place and on the backside of the steps, the names of victims in Bataclan Terror Attack are engraved on the panels to form a memorial interface of meditation space. A shop and a café are located at the first floor and a workshop island floats on the second floor.
The Burgeoning Space
2016
The Burgeoning Space (大茁空间)is a small office which is only 50 sq m. Before it was a small photo studio that was out of use for over half a year. We took it over and demolished the old and shabby furnishing and redesign the interior. We make it more open by removing the independent room and make it an entire working space. We recovered a window at the south side which was covered before to bring more natural light. We use a light tone to make the office’s area look bigger. Some bright orange color is used to add some fantasy to this clean, industry style space.
Longhua Hospital
2012
This Project is an orthopedic hospital in Shenzhen. A long steel bridge connecting the section of outpatients and the main road is welcoming walk-in patients to the front building directly. A sunken plaza is created beneath the bridge for exercise of the orthopedic patients. They could easily walk (wheel) down to the plaza and get recovered gradually during the daily exercise. In terms of the facade, the section of outpatients uses a vertical language while the other high rise buildings have a square one to create a stronger massing contrast.
In Los Angeles, people can not live without a vehicle. Recently a new technology which is called self-driving vehicle was invented by Google. The self-driving vehicle is more efficient, cleaner than the normal cars in our daily life. We expect the city will have multiple parking spots for auto-drive vehicles in the future. There will be a lifestyle when people want to go to place B from place A, an auto-drive vehicle from the nearest spot can come and pick them up and then leave them to place B, and finally go back to the nearest spot or pick up the next passenger. Based on this concept, we design one of that parking lot in Sawtelle.
